Local Elections for Parish & Town Councils take place every four years. A Councillor is elected for a four-year term of office and will remain in post unless they resign or become disqualified.
At the first meeting of the Parish Council, Members will sign a Declaration of Acceptance of Office, which confirms their commitment to abide by the National Code of Conduct.
Should a vacancy exist mid-term, and an election not be called by the electorate, the vacancy can be filled by co-option.
All Councillors are encouraged to attend regular information sharing and training sessions, to ensure that they are up to date with current regulations, advice and guidance.
